Took the train from Belfast to Portrush. Northern Ireland is a beautiful country and we passed the proverbial rolling hills with the low walls and green fields with sheep running here and there. Portrush is on the northern coast and is at the convergence of the North Atlantic and the Irish Sea. The Scot isles are just 30 or so miles from here. I had the pleasure of dining with a group of about 20 police officers out on a "group building exercise" and we had dinner and shared in what I learned was "good craic" (crack) which means "good stories". A person is judged on their ability to share a good tale and I guess I measured up.
The weekend's Soliton sessions were held at Kelly's nightclub, the largest nightclub in Ireland holding over 3,500 people. We took over one of the many "sub"-bars and that became our home for the weekend. The evening was taken up by introductions and an overview of what the facilitators hoped to accomplish and then we had the opportunity to talk with each other and come up with our own questions. Gareth Higgins led a mini-keynote/devotions that set the stage for what was to come. I stayed late to talk with several of the folks who were up from the Ikon community and I think friendships were formed and there were some definite dreams about what we might do to collaborate in the future. Back to my B&B on the harbor for another attempt to catch up with my body clock.
